The crew at OpenCFD have just released version 1712 of OpenFOAM. In addition to the bug fixes and speed increases there are some cool new features I’m looking forward to checking out.
cfmesh, a great exising mesher from a third party company, has been incorporated into the base code.
New avalanche model simulations contributed by Matthias Rauter. The video below comes from the release notes and is pretty cool. I can see this model being really useful in alpine environments and design.
I’ll hopefully post a few benchmarks and usage reports over the weekend.
